Te Wahanga Parakuihi provides your early morning dose of bilingual news, views, Māori events, entertainment.

Te Wahanga Parakuihi takes listeners for a musical ride through yester-year including traditional Māori waiata through to the contemporary sounds of today. Throw in a solid dose of nostalgia and classic hits and you have a bilingual formula that reaches all ages.

Veteran Māori broadcaster Dale Husband (Ngati Maru/Tainui) anchors the 3-hour programme, bringing you a bilingual broadcast, immersing listeners in te ao Maori with up-to-the-minute news and stimulating interviews with the newsmakers of the day.

Te Wahanga Parakuihi also keeps tabs on the Mâori political world including regular korero Prime Minister John Key, NZ First leader, Winston Peters, Maori Party leaders Tariana Turia, Te Ururoa Flavell and Pita Sharples, Labour leader David Cunliffe, Green co-leader Metiria Turei and Maori commentators Willie Te Aho and Rawiri Taonui.

If you have a kaupapa you'd like to share - a panui - or have any waiata requests, submit them here on our Facebook page: Breakfast with Dale

One can tell this radio station's religious bias - by the way it includes some - more often than others' and not treat all faiths' equally. This is especially not helped when this radio station's Manager and some of it's radio hosts' unashamedly express their disdain of a person(s)/community of another faith. Such actions' come to 'bear rotten fruit' in later years'. Ignore this; you'll learn the hard way! Kia ora!

I just was so touched from the heart by Stan walkers open ,honest sharing of who he is ,where he has come from ,his attitude of gratitude to life, his love and passion for us as maori to see ourselves in the eyes of our creator and not in the eyes of our failures and peoples judgements ...beautiful korero.

It is awesome just to hear New Zealand Music on the Radio for 2 hours on a nice Saturday Night in, especially hosted by a Young Maori guy that can actually speak Maori fluently. It just inspires people to actually start learning how to speak Maori properly. It is awesome to hear such a lovely language on the radio and also throught.

Who cares about Hone?
OPINION: Many Maori have been suspicious of mainstream media and our police force for some years now and the recent shooting at Hone Harawira’s office is another example of how shabbily our people are treated by these organisations.
