New software program could change social service management
A software program that Te Whānau ō Waipareira developed to manage its whānau ora workload could change social service management around the world.
The West Auckland trust yesterday signed agreements with technology provider Microsoft and Medtech that cover future development and marketing of Whānau Tahi Navigator.
Chief Executive John Tamihere says while there are plenty of products to manage medical practices, such as the MedSoft system used by the majority of New Zealand GPs, there has been nothing similar in social services.
“Any person that is a recipient of any of our services can go in and have a look at who’s working with them over what areas, what’s been promoted to them and for them, what it’s costing and is it working. Once you get all those answers, a funder knows the provider of the service, the recipient of the service knows and that’s a very powerful instrument because it keeps everyone on their toes and honest. If things aren’t working then stop it,” he says.
John Tamihere says several other whānau ora providers are starting to use Whānau Tahi Navigator, and the Medtech and Microsoft connections means it will also be marketed overseas.
