Peters snaps back at ungracious Dunne
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says Peter Dunne has no cause to be embittered about his political career.
The United Future leader says any government formed with NZ First would self-destruct because it was based on vanity.
Mr Peters says the former Ohariu MP had a political career that was extended far too long by playing both sides of the road and people in that position are liable to get hit by traffic going both ways.
He says Mr Dunne has forgotten the help he got after the 2005 election.
"The fact is that I made him part of negotiations and asked him did he want to be part of cabinet because I saw more parties would make a stronger cabinet in this case, not a weaker cabinet. So we had, people forget that, Labour and New Zealand First and the United Party. United Future was put there by Winston Peters. He knows that. But as they say, there is no sin like ingratitude and he is an example of that," Mr Peters says.
Substantive negotiations have been completed and now it's a matter of ensuring everyone understands what has been agreed before a governement can be formed.
