Taurima puts people first in manaaki tangata policy
The Maori Party’s Tamaki Makaurau candidate has unleashed a flood of policies to address the challenges facing Auckland.
Shane Taurima says people can expect action if the party becomes part of the next government.
The Manaaki Tangata – No One Left Behind strategy tackles homelessness, low wages, whanau trying to rise above poverty, unemployment and family violence, te reo Maori revitalisation and Maori business development.
" I suppose the one I am really passionate about is the aspiration of building a bilingual Tamaki Makaurau. This is our main city that is a gateway to Aotearoa and yet we don't really celebrate and promote our cultural diversity," Mr Taurima says.
A Reid Research Maori Television poll released yesterday puts support for Shane Taurima on 32 percent, well, behind Labour’s Peeni Henare on 46 percent, with the Greens’ Marama Davison taking 21 percent.
