Raukawa takes new approach to managing assets
Raukawa ki te Tonga Charitable Trust has restructured its asset holding company, appointing a chief executive and non-executive board rather than having the business run by executive directors.
The trust was established in 2010 as a Mandated Iwi Organisation under the Māori Fisheries Act for the Ōtaki-based iwi.
With the retirement of Toa Pomare, Debra Birch stepped over from the trust to chair the holding company, and Jack Morris, who was running Te Wānanga o Raukawa Foundation, was picked as chief executive.
Ms Birch has more than 30 years’ executive experience of financial markets managing global investment portfolios in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and more recently she has become a professional director with a focus on Māori economic development
