Iwi produce fills relief packs

The roadside checkpoints are going from the far north, but iwi are still on the front line of responding to COVID-19.
Te Rarawa chair Haami Piripi says the challenge now is dealing with the economic effects of the crisis, with the iwi distributing meat, vegetables as well as any government-funded hygiene supplies through its marae networks.
"The iwi have really come to the fore with our networks in my view has made an incredible difference to the efficacy of the process and the outcome it has produced. It's a good sign for when we reset to a new normal," he says.
Mr Piripi says a lot of the produce from Te Rarawa’s new market gardening business is going into relief packs.
