Fresh eyes for whanau ora oversight
Renwick school principal Simon Heath and Blenheim accountant Rebecca Mason have been appointed to the board of the South island whanau ora commissioning agency, Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu.
Chair Ta Mark Solomon says whānau ora welcomes scrutiny from all walks of life,” and the new directors bring skills and experience across education, business and local government.
Mr Heath, from Ngāi Tahu, has been a leader in education for 35 years in Te Tau Ihu as a teacher and principal and also sits on the Education Council Aotearoa NZ, and was the establishment chair of the philanthropic trust, Mistletoe Charitable Foundation.
Ms Mason, who has connections to Ngāti Kuia and Ngāti Koata, chairs the economic pou for Te Tauihu Regional Intersector Forum, which is a key partnership mechanism between iwi and local/central government in Nelson-Marlborough.
