Maori business employment problems
A survey of business by the ANZ Bank has found a significant number of Maori businesses are being hampered by a lack of skilled staff.
The survey of 3500 private businesses throughout the country found Maori businesses where much more confident about the future than non-Maori.
However it found that a third of those businesses reported that a lack of skilled staff was impacting on their ability to grow.
This compared with just a quarter of non-Maori businesses facing the same problem.
The ANZ reported that Maori businesses in particular were shifting their perspective from a focus on survival to future prosperity.
It attributed this to a shift of focus from the adverseral process of righting historical grievances to working out how we can all work together to realise opportunities in front of us.
