Judicial review into TPPA Sought
Papers have been lodged in the High Court seeking a judicial review of the government's decision not to release information on the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement being negotiated in secret.
Auckland University law professor Jane Kelsey backed by a range of organisations including Ngati Kahungunu, wants a report by the European Ombudsman into a parallel agreement to the TPPA which Trade Minister Tim Grosser refused to release back in January.
The applicants say the TPPA is likely to have major consequences for the future and New Zealander's should have the right to see what it contains before the Government signs up to it.
They want the Court to give the matter urgency because although negotiations broke down in Hawai'i over the weekend the matter is certainly not dead.
