Motu: Oileaiin take encore
If you missed it last year, Trinity Roots’ Motu: Oileaiin side project gets another airing next month.
The Wellington trio will team up with four of Ireland’s top musicians for shows at the Nelson and Tauranga arts festivals and a range of smaller venues around the country.
Trinity Roots’ Warren Maxwell says the enthusiastic response to the group at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow earlier this year paved the way to make it an ongoing affair.
The collaboration is describes as marrying evocative melodies with hypnotic grooves, tribal chants with fragile harmony and ancient languages in psychedelic soundscapes.
Singer Pauline Scanlon says the musicians connect not only through music but through humour, history, indigenous language and rebel hearts.
