Kiwa turns Sesame Street Korean
Maori-owned production house Kiwa Digital has signed a deal with Sesame Workshop to convert Sesame Street stories for reading on mobile devices in multiple languages.
The first books are already available in Korean on Google Play and iBooks, with further e-taliers to follow.
They include ‘Bubbles, Bubbles’, ‘Getting Ready for School: Colors’, ‘My First Trip to the Farm’, ‘123 Count with Me’, ‘Elmo Loves You’, ‘My First Instrument’, ‘Tummies’, ‘Zoe’s First Book of Seasons’, and ‘Elmo’s Christmas Countdown’.
All books include features such as synched text and audio narration where children can follow along.
Under the deal the stories, aimed at two to five year olds, will also be available in Japanese, Mandarin and Bahasa Malay.
Steven Renata, Global Business Development Director of KIWA, says the local language e-books will increase the range of language resources for parents and teachers while increasing the use of Sesame Workshop’s valuable content.
Sesame Workshop is the non-profit educational organization behind the Sesame Street television series which reaches 156 million children across more than 150 countries.
