New role for Ngai Tahu Runanga
Ngai Tahu high flyer Hana O’Regan has been appointed to a new role at the South Island iwi’s runanga that will focus on education, employment, financial literacy and business creation.
Ms O’Regan has led Ngai Tahu’s language revitalization strategy and has spent the past decade at Canterbury Polytechnic Institute of Technology, which has developed a number of partnerships with the iwi.
She is also on the Government’s flag consideration panel.
Ngai Tahu chief executive Arahia Bennett says the position as General Manager Oranga will require her to be part innovator, part creator, part developer, part enabler, as well as a leader.
She says Ms O’Regan has the energy, determination and aptitude to ensure success for whanau through realising whanau rangatiratanga.
