MPs need to get on with mahi
Labour’s Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is rejecting Hone Harawira’s assertion Maori MPs are unnoticeable and cow to their party line.
The Mana leader says he will try to win back Te Taitokerau next election because there is no mana in parliament.
Mr Henare says he tackled Mr Harawira about his comments at a tangi this week.
"You need people who are vocal and out the front but just as much you need people who are actually prepared to get on with just the mahi. Those who are putting their head down, those who have a bit more humility to allow others and empower others to the heavy lifting and the hard work," he says.
Peeni Henare says a band need more than a lead singer.
