Money lessons give putea power
The Government is putting $900,000 towards improving levels of financial capability among Maori.
The money for financial education programmes will be administered by the Commission for Financial Capability, .
Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell says succesful pilot programmes showed there is value in using marae and trusts to help build the financial skills and knowledge of iwi, hapu and whanau.
He says financial skills gives more whanau pathways to new careers and greater opportunities to consider building their own enterprises.
