Maori roll for new charter schools
Low income Maori teenagers will be the target for the two schools to come through the third round of charter school selection.
Te Kopuku High in Hamilton will have an opening roll of 90 students, while Te Aratika Academy in Napier will open with 67 year 11 to13 boys.
Education under-secretary David Seymour says the schools are still lining up premises.
Each school will get about $600,000 from the taxpayer in set up costs.
There were 26 applications for the round.
Mr Seymour expects some who missed out would reapply in the fourth round, which is now open.
