St Josephs puts out reunion call
Some visitors to Te Matatini in Hastings this week may also want to drop into their old school in Napier to register for its 150th jubilee celebrations.
St Joseph’s Maori Girl’s school has had 10,000 girls passing through its doors since 1867, and is still going strong, with a capacity roll of over 200 students every year.
Old girl and organising committee member Stephanie Tibble says an indicative pre-registration exercise got more than 750 expressions of interest, so registrations are now being taken online or at the schools so they can do more detailed planning for the event, which will be from October 6 to 8 at the school.
"Also let our kuia and pakeke from the school know that this is happening because they are not all online or on the facebook and all these other things. We also want to encourage whanau to tell their mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, if they know they went to St Joe's or know the whanau had an association. We really want to encourage our kaumatua and pakeke to be there," Ms Tibble says.
