Former minister in DHB spot
Former associate health minister Dame Tariana Turia has been appointed to the board of the Whanganui District Health Board on one of a number of high profile appointments announced today.
Taa Mark Solomon, who is about to step down as Ngai Tahu kaiwhakahaere, has been appointed to the Canterbury board.
Just four of the 19 DHBs will be chaired by elected members, and the Government signalled its desired for regional collaboration by appointing Lester Levy chair of the Auckland, Waitemata and Counties-Manukau DHBs.
Other appointments include June McCabe to the Northland DHB, Dr Matire Harwood and Morris Pita in Waitemata, Gwen Tepania-Palmer in Auckland, George Ngatai in Counties Manukau, and Tania Hodges and Sharon Mariu in Waikato.
Ngahiwi Tomoana was appointed deputy chair of the Hawkes Bay DHB, with IronMaori founder Health Skipworth and Wairoa councilor Hine Flood also appointed.
