No competition for PM English
With Bill English now set to become New Zealand’s next prime minister, attention now shifts to which Maori will be his deputy.
The Finance minister yesterday became the only candidate to replace John Key at next Monday’s caucus meeting, after first Judith Collins and then Jonathan Coleman pulled out of the race.
So far only two MPs have put their hands up for the deputy spot – Social Housing and Climate Change Minister Paula Bennett and Transport Minister Simon Bridges.
Other MPs hae a chance to put their names in up to Monday’s vote.
