Maori TV continues to lead the way with annual ANZAC Day broadcast
Maori Television is producing its 12th Anzac special tomorrow morning, giving a Maori perspective on one of the country's most significant days.
Co-presenter Tainui Stephens says the channel continues to put in the effort in and is a testament to its values and the values Maori as a people hold.
He says it's always moving to attend a dawn service, whether it be with the thousands expected at the Auckland War Memorial Museum or at a small town cenotaph.
"Even if the ranks of the soldiers are depleted, there is just a sense of memory in the air and the solemnity and the seriousness with which we gather is very important. There is a lot of anger still in the world and having a chance to just pause and think about that and somehow summon the better angels of our nature is always a useful and worthwhile and important thing to do," Mr Stephens says.
Maori Television's special starts at 5.50 am with coverage of the dawn service in Auckland.
