Labour no option for Mana voters
Mana leader Hone Harawira is telling his supporters not to give their votes to Labour's Maori candidates.
Mana held its annual conference in Whangarei at the weekend, with Maori Party president Tukoroirangi Morgan a keynote speaker.
The two parties have an agreement with Mana only contesting Te Taitokerau and the Maori Party getting a clear run against Labour in the other six Maori seats.
Mr Harawira says some Mana supporters may want to vote for their Labour candidate, but they need to look at Andrew Little's record towards Maori as Labour leader.
"What they are going to get is not what their Maori MP is telling them. It is what the Pakeha guy at the top is going to tell them they are going to get. Now that is the problem with Maori thinking a vote for Labour is going to change the government, because it ain't. All we are going to get is a red version of the same rip off we have been getting from the blue guys," he says.
Mr Harawira says Andrew Little has belittled what his Labour MPs say and he failed to deliver the high list placing he promised candidate Willie Jackson.
