Ardern confident policies in line
Labour leader Jacinda Ardern says talks with New Zealand First about who should form the next government have primarily been about policy.
The New Zealand First caucus was this morning discussing final offers put by National and Labour overnight, and leader Winston Peters will announce their choice at 3pm.
Policy, portfolios and personalities are seen by observers as the critical factors, but Ms Ardern says policy discussion is the way to ensure there are shared views on critical issues, which is the only way to make sure a government is built on strong foundations.
"Stability, durability and also whether or you both have a programme that you agree with, that you are going to be able to achieve the things that you campaigned on in terms of your goals. Those are really important," she says.
