Maori Party vote counts as Greens slip
Labour leader Jacinda Ardern says she still hasn’t considered whether to call on the Maori Party support if the Greens drop out of parliament.
Ms Ardern answered questions on the latest polling after unveiling Labour’s new campaign billboard in her Mount Albert electorate today.
Last night’s One News Colmar Brunton poll put Labour at 37 percent and the Greens below the 5 percent threshold for getting MPs into parliament without winning an electorate.
Radio Waatea asked if that meant the Maori Party would be in Labour’s calculations if it is in a position to form a government after the September 23 election.
"That’s not in my thinking at the moment. I’m focused on the Labour Party vote. There’s five weeks to run in this campaign and I think we will continue to see some volatility in those polls. My hope of course is that for Labour it keeps going up," Ms Arden says.
Despite the turmoil in the Greens after the resignation of Metiria Turei as co-leader, they will still get a call.
