Shaw moves to fast track climate action
As schoolchildren around the country marched this morning to demand action of climate change, the Government announced its Interim Climate Change Committee would deliver its two key reports directly to Climate Change Minister James Shaw.
Mr Shaw says this will allow the Government to move more quickly on the reports, about agriculture and renewable electricity generation.
The reports are likely to recommend changes to the emissions trading system, such as including agricultural methane and nitrous oxide emissions.
Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor says decisions around agriculture need to be based on scientific advice and consultation so the sector has well-considered and workable solutions.
