Qualmark for Maori tour
Hawkes Bay Maori tourism business that shares local stories about a 14th century fortress has been awarded the Qualmark visitor activity endorsement.
Waimarama Maori Tours co-owners Robert MacDonald and Denise Prentice say it will be a valuable boost to the business.
Waimarama Maori Tours runs tours to Hakikino pa in the hills of Waimarama for individuals and cruise ship parties.
It recently introduced a tour of Te Mata Peak which includes sharing the stories of the people represented in the new Nga Pou o Heretaunga carvings in Hastings’ Civic Square.
Mr MacDonald says applying for certifications and awards is a way to help the business grow and improve, as well as benchmark it against other operators.
