Maori to make mark at Edinburgh festivals
Top kapa haka groups, dance company Black Grace and writer Witi Ihimaera are among more than 200 New Zealand artists who will take part in arts festivals in Edinburgh this August.
There are now seven festivals in the Scottish city including the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an others covering books, storytelling, jazz and blues and visual arts.
Te Matatini winners Te Waka Huia and Te Whanau a Apanui will take part in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and Shannon Te Ao is part of an international art exhibition curated by Dunedin Public Art Gallery’s Aaron Kreisler.
The New Zealand season coincides with the Commonwealth Games being staged in Glasgow.
