Brown keen for iwi money
Auckland mayor is keen to see iwi co-investment in the city’s infrastructure.
The Tamaki Makaurau Collective settlement bill gets its third reading on July 24, heralding a new era for the region’s tribes.
Mr Brown says he expects to see them play an even greater role in the life of the city, including public-private partnerships with the council.
"Transportation is certainly one of those areas. You might have other areas of the public domain like street lighting, potential partnerships there, partnerships in and around our port, airport, si I see it as really exciting, it's potentially expanding how we build our city and not just depending on the ratepayers or the taxpayers," he says.
