Wahine to shine at FOMA hui
Next week’s Federation of Maori Authorities conference in Whanganui will be highlighting the role of women in Maori business.
Speakers will include four Aotea women in top governance roles: Parininihi ki Waitotara chair Hinerangi Raumati, Daisy Noble from South Taranaki dairy farm Te Rua o te Moko Ltd, Morikaunui Incorporation chair Hari Benevides and Atihau Whanganui chair Mavis Mullins.
It will also hear from Maori Land court Judge Sarah Reeves and there will be a special presentation to outgoing MP Tariana Turia.
Former Ngati Rangi chief executive Che Wilson says the Whanganui area has a proud history of Maori women in key leadership roles, including land wars era warrior Pura McGregor, prophet Mere Rikiriki and Labour MP Iriaka Ratana.
