Housing Te Tai Tokerau election issue
Labour’s Te Tokerau candidate says the electorate is stuck in a rut, and he aims to get it moving.
Kelvin Davis says the issues people are talking about are the same as when he first came into parliament as a list MP six years ago, which shows the north’s current MPs aren’t delivering for their constituents.
His campaign has focused on creating opportunity through education, jobs, housing and tackling the domestic violence that is dragging many whanau down.
He says they’re issues that resonate with voters.
"Housing actually is a massive issue, especially further up north, and I say it is less of a building issue and more of a health issue in that our whanau up there are becoming unwell because of the state of the housing, cold and damp houses, and the Labour Party has great policy that is going to address that," Mr Davis says.
On current polling voters shouldn’t assume he will get back in on the party list, so he wants both of their votes.
