Disney picks up Waititi script
We now know what Oscar-nominated Taika Waititi has been doing in the shadows when he's not making comedy vampire films.
Disney has picked up his script for a new animated feature about a Polynesian princess called Moana sailing the Pacific in search of a fabled island.
The studio has released the first artwork from the film, which also includes the demigod Maui, a staple in both Maori and Polynesian mythology.
Directors John Musker and Ron Clements have previously helmed Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Frog.
Musker says Moana is indomitable, passionate and a dreamer with a unique connection to the ocean, and she's the sort of character audiences will cheer for.
Moana is scheduled for release in late 2016.
