Harawira sick of excuses for hunger
Mana leader Hone Harawira says people are busy finding excuses while children go hungry.
The former Te Tai Tokerau MP's feed the kids bill to provide meals in decile one and two schools has been picked up by Greens co-leader Metiria Turei.
Prime Minister John Key says parents need to be responsible for breakfast and food for lunch.
Mr Harawira says there is an immediate problem that needs to be addressed.
"I don't disagree with the whanau stuff. I don't disagree with the issues about better housing. I don't disagree with the issue about more jobs. But the fact is every single day that you muck around or talk too much, kids go hungry. Every single day 100,000 children are going to school without a kai." he says.
