Tikao donates song royalties to Kids Can
Ariana Tikao hopes her new single will encourage young women to stay true to themselves.
The Kai Tahu singer says Kia Mataara was inspired by her teenage daughter.
It’s part of a new album she’s working on with Solomon Rahui and Holly Weir Tikao with funding support from the Ngai Tahu Fund.
She’s donating digital sales of the single to the Kids Can charity.
" Thinking about my own kids and the opportunites that they have and I really like the kaupapa of Kids Can. Helping kids have resources, kai and clothing so I thought the kaupapa of this waiata was a good match for that. So hopefully we will be able to raise some money for them " she says.
