New Line up for Trinity Roots
Wellington trio Trinity Roots is on the move with a new line-up, festival appearances and the release of its third studio album, Citizen.
The band headlines at the Sundaise festival in Waihi tomorrow night, and they’re at WOMAD in Taranaki to following weekend.
With the departure of Jean Pompey, guitarist Warren Maxwell and bass player Rio Hemopo have been joined by on drums by multi-instrumentalist Ben Wood, who has played in a number of Wellington bands.
Maxwell says the multi-instrumentalist was one of his students in a foundation class at the Wellington jazz school.
"Totally proficient in drums, bass, incredible guitarist. Then when we started writing the new album he got on the microphone and started sing and me and Rio looked at each other and said 'We've got a bit of a diamond there,'" he says.
