Advisor wants to ensure no one is left behind
A member of the external advisory panel for Labour’s Future of Work Commission says he wants to make sure no one is left behind.
Matthew Tukaki from Ngai Te Rangi is a former head of employment firm Drake Australia who now runs an international network for entrepreneurs as well as advises companies and governments about sustainability.
He says it’s an opportunity to look at what future industries will look like and how New Zealand might gain a competitive advantage.
He also wants to see that low paid workers, who are disproportionately Maori and Pacific Island, aren’t left behind as employment patterns change.
Matthew Tukaki says future jobs need to come with a living wage.
