Porter’s first effort deemed positive
Mana leader Hone Harawira is pleased with the way his candidate has contested the Northland by-election.
It’s the first time Reuben Taipari Porter has stood, and the Ahipara environmentalist has been speaking where he can on issues like Statoil’s oil exploration plans, the shortage of jobs in the region and housing.
Mr Harawira says he doesn’t get the attention of front-runner Winston Peters, but he needs to be heard.
" It’s not a big fuss for us about who people vote for but the issues are important. The issues are jobs, the issues are housing. And i'm really proud of the fact that Rueben Porter is the only guy talking about those sorts of things, consistently day to day to day " says Hone Harawira
