Range of arts sought for Guam trip
Artists thinking of taking part in next year’s 12th Festival of Pacific Arts in Guam will need to move fast this week.
Applications from Maori customary and contemporary artists and New Zealand-based contemporary Pasifika artists close must be in to Creative New Zealand by 5pm Friday.
Project manager Tanea Heke says artists will create and present work and be involved in workshops and seminars.
She says Creative New Zealand will pay for delegates’ travel, insurance, basic accommodation, meals and per diems, with transport being provided by the Air Force for the 100 or so delegates.
"We’re looking at as wide as possible representation in terms of art forms so you can bet there are kapa haka on our plane, weavers, moko artists, ceramic artists, carvers, we will have contemporary musicians, contemporary dance, we’ll have theatre, and we have had some queries from people who do graffiti art," she says.
