Te Oro gives Glen Innes taste of stage magic
The new Te Oro arts and music facility at Glen Innes is hopping this week with a school holiday programme on top of its normal range of performance and activities.
Centre manager Jenni Heka says the community has embraced Te Oro since it opened two months ago, with the sprung dancefloor looking out onto Maungarei especially popular.
Tonight the young cast of Pacific Underground’s open a season of Rangi and Mau’s Amazing Race.
It’s followed on July 17 with a single performance of Manawa, where Hawaiki Tu will show off their take on haka theatre.
"Performance in Glen Innes is something we haven’t had so to be able to have this opportunity to present is exciting for us, not as just Te Oro but as a community. The more stories we see, the more opportunities we see of ourselves up on stage, the more you see young people believe they can also do that too, so very exciting times," she says.
Tickets for shows can be got from Eventfinda or from Te Oro on Line Rd in Glen Innes.
