A school redevelopment with a Māori and Pasifika theme has won Opus Architecture award from the New Zealand Institute of Architects.
The jury says Porirua College is now effective, airy with light-filled spaces that transforms attendance and learning outcomes. Principal architect Bruce Curtain says weaving patterns were built into the walls and floors, and student designs incorporated into acoustic wall panels. He says glass walls are having a positive effect on student behaviour. Copyright © 2012, Uma Broadcasting Ltd |
