Ngāi Tūhoe is planning a $15 million headquarters in Taneatua that will be the most sustainable in the county.

Chair Tamati Kruger says the living building will have no environmental impact and be integrated into its surrounding landscape.

He says while the upfront cost is higher, over the years it will more than pay for itself.

The building is designed by Jasmax architects and built by New Zealand firm Arrow International, who will use Tūhoe’s own timber for construction and landscaping.
