The Rotorua-based fisheries adviser to Te Arawa and Ngati Tuwharetoa graduates from the University of Waikato having completed his PhD part-time over seven years, more than 30 years after he completed his BSc in biology and earth sciences. Dr Kusabs followed his BSc with his masters, completing that in 1989.He continued his studies into fish in British Columbia, Canada, before returning home to establish his own consultancy service in his hometown.The only way I could get work in Rotorua was to make my own, he says.
