Moana reo Maori in-flight choice
Air New Zealand says it will be showing the te reo Maori version of the Disney animated film Moana on its flights from November.
The film premiered last night and is screening at 30 cinemas this week for Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori
The airline’s cultural development manager, Andrew Baker, says Air New Zealand helped support the dubbing project by flying New Zealand cast and crew up to Los Angeles to record the te reo Maori audio.
He says the film is a great way to normalise the Maori language,
The English language version of the film has been a huge hit with customers on Air New Zealand flights, averaging around 39,000 views a month when it was onboard.
Air New Zealand will also mark Maori Language Week with a snapchat competition sharing common phrases that can be used after saying "Kia ora ".
