Outlook positive from Ngati Whatua viewpoint
Just days after celebrating the 40th anniversary of a crucial point in their battle to stop the building of luxury housing on their stolen whenua, Ngati Whatua Orakei has given its endorsement to a neighbouring high end development.
In a dawn ceremony yesterday, representative Taiaha Hawke and other elders placed a sacred rock in the foundation of the 43-residence Outlook apartment complex in Kepa Road, Mission Bay.
Bayleys salesperson Trent Quinton says 28 apartments have been sold off the plan and just 15 remain, including the last of four penthouses priced at $4.85 million.
The building is due to be completed by mid 2019, which would make Outlook one of the first large residential projects under the new Terrace Housing and Apartment Buildings zoning in the Auckland Unitary Plan.
