Million pictures through Kupu translater

The top free app for this year's Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori has been Kupu, a Google-powered tool from Spark and Te Aka Māori Dictionary that allows people to post a photo of an object and then get back a name in Māori.

More than 80,000 people have used the app to translate more than a million photos.

Spark’s business manager Māori, Lisa Paraku says the company is humbled by the response and gratified Kupu being used as a digital learning tool in classrooms and households across the country.
