Bounty for Tamihere billboard bashers

Auckland mayoral candidate John Tamihere is offering his volunteers a reward if they can identify who is defacing his billboards.

Mr Tamihere says his campaign put up 358 billboards over the weekend from Wellsford to Bombay and even one on Aotea Great Barrier.

He says they seem to have been singled out for attack.

"My volunteers are going to be given rewards to identify who is doing this because it's just unacceptable conduct this early in the electoral cycle particularly if they are trolling me only, as opposed to (Mayor Phil) Goff or any other supported councillors of his. I don't think that's fair or right and so I will be putting a big shout out on my Facebook, on my website and the like," Mr Tamihere says.

As a person of colour he believes some of the defacing could have a racial motive.

The fundamental problem with Oranga Tamariki's uplift apology
The fundamental problem with Oranga Tamariki's uplift apology is that it's not really an apology at all because they still believe they had every right to take the infant and are apologising for the lack of communication.
National's new draconian Oranga Tamariki welfare reforms are anti-Māori, anti-women and anti-human

Nothing highlights the denial of colonialism quite like the Parihaka apology
Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: We must never allow the perfect to defeat the good, but the fact that it's taken 138 years to formally apologise for the tragedy of Parihaka speaks volumes about the cultural denial of the negative effects of colonialism.
