The number of people heading out to protect Ihumaatao is stressing the ancient landscape.

A raahui has been placed on Puketaapapa maunga near the site which Fletcher Housing has agreed to return to iwi as part of its development.

Soul member Qiane Matata Sipu, says with the number of occupiers swelling from about 200 usually to over 1000 at the weekends, the maunga is at risk.

"When you've got lots of people coming to the whenua for this kaupapa you potentially have got lots of feet walking on the maunga so we've asked when people are coming to Ihumaatao they're welcome to look at our maunga, they're welcome to walk up to the maunga, they're welcome to karakia to the maunga, but we are asking at this time if they can refrain from walking on the tihi of the maunga, just so we can keep it protected," she says.

TVNZ Journalist blames Māori, not Oranga Tamariki.
OPINION - Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: TVNZ Journalist Jehan Casinader, has written a remarkably shallow evaluation of the corrosive Orange Tamariki child uplift programme and has bewilderingly concluded the problem is Māori, not the policy.
Ihumātao Te Riri Pākehā | The White Manís Anger
Dr Rawiri Taonui; This column is part one of three on Ihumātao. This part traces the historical injustices behind Ihumātao. Part two outlines the legal progress and rising opposition against the Fletchers Residential development, the contradiction between justice for Māori and preserving Māori as an artefact, and how the Crown has divided mana whenua. Part three examines the political implications of Ihumātao.
Dear Tracey Martin. I'm sorry Minister but your Oranga Tamariki response is disgracefully tone deaf
Martyn 'Bomber' Bradbury: The Minister responsible for Oranga Tamariki has finally responded over the weekend to the outrage within Māoridom at the Oranga Tamariki uplifts and her response is disgracefully tone deaf.
