China gets Wehi haka experience
Ten members from a Tāmaki Makaurau-based kapa haka are heading for China to help showcase Māori tourism and culture.
Te Wehi Haka – The HAKA Experience will perform during the Opening Doors to the West business forum, held in Chengdu and Xi'an starting on Saturday.
The troupe is directed and managed by Tapeta and Annette Wehi.
New Zealand Māori Tourism deputy chief executive Hoki-mai Chong says the business forum provides an unprecedented opportunity to promote Māori culture and increase awareness, especially during the China-New Zealand Year of Tourism.
