Organisers of tomorrow's Te Wiki o te Reo Māori hikoi in Tūranganui a Kiwa have flagged the march because of expected heavy rain, but the celebrations will continue.

Tūranga FM station manager Mātai Smith says instead the kōhanga and kura involved have been invited to bring their tamariki to Te Poho o Rawiri Marae.

There will be entertainment from reo ambassador Pere Wihongi and other language related activities, and the kids have been asked to dress up for the occasion as one of their sporting heroes.

Hikoi were held today in Te Whanganui a Tara and Whangārei.

Other hīkoi will be at Takapuna tomorrow, Maungakiekie/ One Tree Hill on Thursday and Manukau and Hamilton on Friday.
