Voice of experience for Kahungunu liaison role
Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated has taken on social services professional Ana Carroll to build the partnerships it needs with government agencies to advance its Te Ara Toiora wellbeing strategy.
The role is being resourced by Oranga Tamariki.
Before joining the Department of Social Welfare in 1989, Ms Carroll did volunteer work for Te Taiwhenua o Te Whanganui A Orotu and also led a women’s rūnanga which set up Napier’s Māori women’s resource centre.
She retired in April, but says she was overwhelmed yet humbled by the opportunity to come out of retirement to work for her people.
