Dearlove standing to unite Ngapuhi
Clinton Dearlove may be hoping for third time lucky as he again puts his name forward to stand in Te Taitokerau in the September 19 general election.
Mr Dearlove stood for Mana in Te Tai Tonga in 2011 and then had a crack at Te Taitokerau as an independent in 2014.
He will again stand as an independent again but under the banner of fledgling Ngāpuhi Unite, which hopes to get enough support to register in its own right for the 2023 election.
Party founder Joeann Walters says she came up with the idea for a party while searching for rongoa in the shadow of her mountain Pukearengarenga, and she was also inspired by her Ngāti Wai ancestor Paratene Te Manu, was part of Kohuiarau and other political endeavours.
