Election delay off Green diet
Greens co-leader James Shaw sees no need to delay the election despite the outbreak of COVID-19 in the community.
That option remains on the table until parliament is dissolved, which has been put off until Monday at the earliest.
Mr Shaw says even if the election were until closer to the constitutional deadline of November 21, there is no guarantee the situation would be any better for voters.
"I think a lot of what people are looking at is the quality of leadership each of the parties have. The response, whether in Government or in opposition, is a really good test of leadership and character. As such, I think people are able to make up their minds about who they want to lead them," he says.
Mr Shaw says if the whole country is forced back onto Level 4 lockdown there could be a case for delaying the election.
