Exercise magic pill for kids’ health
ExerciseNZ wants to see a greater efforts to address child obesity in Aotearoa.
Yesterday was World Health Day, and ExerciseNZ chief executive Richard Beddie says that was a reminder that this country is ranked 13th worst in the world in inactivity and second highest in the world in child obesity.
He says offering healthy school lunches is a good start, but more must be done to address the 93 percent of New Zealand kids who don’t do enough physical activity.
"Kids that are physically active have less mental health issues. They have better scores in academic areas and they socialise better. It is all inter-related, so it is literally that magic pill," Mr Beddie says.
